Dr. Elliott welcomed everyone back for the Spring semester.

Important Dates:

January 5 – 11:15 a.m. - new student orientation, advising, and registration.

January 5-6 – Bullpen registration will be held in 101D.

January 17 – Office hours and course syllabi are due.  Be sure they meet SACS and AACSB requirements.

January 28 – Junior Day.  This is a Saturday.  Please sign up in Room 201B.

February 1 – Faculty Activity Reports are due.  Please submit electronically.  Promotion and Tenure Portfolios are due.

February 7 – Goals and Objectives for January-December 2006 are due electronically.

February 8 – Promotion and Tenure Committee meeting.

February 10 – FBLA – Mark the date for classes to be cancelled in Russell Hall.

February 17 – Merit Evaluation Spreadsheets due electronically.

March 4 – Saturday) Senior Day.  Please sign up in Room 201B.

March 11 – (Saturday) Rally Day. Please sign up in Room 201B.

April 11 – (Tuesday) Research Day – Classes in Russell Hall will be cancelled.

April 13-20 – (one night during week) Star Calling. Please sign up in Room 201B.

April 22 – (Saturday) Graduate/Transfer Open House. Please sign up in Room 201B.

New:  Karl & Linda Moore Professorship has been funded.  Karl and Linda Moore have funded a $10,000 endowed scholarship.

Travel Funds – Professorships have been funded and there is an extra amount funded that can be shared with other faculty for travel or extra can be rolled over to the next year if it is not used. 

New Faculty – Dr. Elliott will check on status of hiring faculty for next year.

Dr. Margaret Kilcoyne gave a demonstration of the new College of Business Faculty Blackboard.  Syllabi must be submitted electronically to Tina by January 17, 2006.  SACS format is thorough and appears to include all information to meet AACSB format.

Forms to be used by faculty have been placed on the COB Faculty Blackboard.  Be sure to save copies of all forms you complete.  Print a copy of the Goals and Objectives, sign and bring a copy to the office.

You have been given a copy of classes available as of 7:00 a.m. today.  Please go to Room 107 to meet and greet the students at 11:00 a.m.

You have each been given a copy of Blackboard Training e-mail.

Questions addressed:

1) Does Blackboard go away each semester?  No, the classes are moved to another site.

2) Do we have to use the campus book?  Answer to be researched.
