Computer Information Systems Department


Dr. Lissa Pollacia


Dr. Lissa Pollacia, BellSouth Endowed Professor and Professor of Computer Information Systems, holds a doctorate in Computer Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She also received her M.S. and her B.S. in mathematics at Northwestern State University. She has prior work experience as an instructor of CIS at NSU Fort Polk Campus and as a mathematics teacher and department head at Leesville High School. Her areas of teaching and expertise are internet and electronic learning, visual programming, information technology, and database theory and technology.

Dr. Pollacia has over twenty years of teaching experience, and has served as Principal Investigator for numerous research and instrumentation grants. She is a leader in the area of Web-based instruction and was instrumental in developing courses for delivery over the Internet. She currently teaches CIS courses in the area of database management systems (Access and Oracle) and Visual Basic .NET programming. Dr. Pollacia has published numerous works in journals and conference proceedings, as well as contributed to textbooks in Computer Science.
